Construction has now commenced on the 2.5MW solar farm site at Ingles Hill farm, Burton Road, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, which was awarded planning consent in September 2015. The Ingles Hill Solar Farm will meet the electricity needs of 750 homes (based on average annual consumption figures from Ofgem) and will be constructed within approximately 8 weeks. Once fully commissioned, the project will generate clean electricity for a 25 year period as set out in the planning consent. The power will be fed directly into the existing electricity network for use in the local area. At the end of its lifespan, the project will be fully decommissioned and the land restored to its former condition.
Construction will be overseen by Solarplicity, who expect to complete the build within 8 – 12 weeks. Solarplicity have successfully installed a large number of Solar Farms in the UK and will be responsible for the construction and operation of this the project at Ingles Hill Farm.
