On 29th July 2015 Fylde Borough Council Planning Committee unanimously voted in favour granting planning approval for the Cooper House Solar Farm. The 4.9MW project will be located on 12.2 hectares of land and will be capable of meeting the equivalent electricity needs of up 1,610 homes, saving carbon dioxide emissions and contributing to the UK’s renewable energy and climate change targets that include a binding target to reduce UK carbon dioxide emissions by 80% by 2050. It is hoped that construction will commence in November 2015.
